After the ceremony, I was able to see everyone in the receiving line. I was really thankful we did this because it was really hard for us to see everyone at the reception. I was also really excited to take pictures for some reason. I felt so pretty and couldn’t wait to see what our pictures looked like!
We had the receiving line, exited to bubbles and entered our get away car driven by my cousin’s fiance, Jeff. I was so thankful that he was able to drive it. We weren’t sure which car we were getting either because it only let us pick a “type” of car. I really wanted to be all fancy and get a limo, but that just didn’t happen. Sigh. We took a picture in the car while we were driving to the reception too. I couldn’t not be on social media all day. Let’s be real.
We arrived at the reception place (a golf course!) and were greeted by the DJ with a beer. Which I loved . Except he thought Jim’s name was Tim. So it was probably good he asked before he announced us. We took golf carts out to the course to take some pictures with our bridal party and just with us. I loved being all dressed up and on the golf course. If you didn’t all know, I was a college golfer so it was really special that we were able to have our reception at a golf course. I just loved the pictures that were taken out there.
After the pictures, it was time for us to be announced at the reception! I had bought our bridal party sunglasses to wear while walking in, so it was kind of fun to act silly. I loved how much everyone cheered when we were announced! We had toasts from my best friend from college, Megan and Jim’s brother (Kendra’s husband) Steve! Megan’s made me tear up. My big regret was that we didn’t have a videographer so I wasn’t able to get that on video. Oh well. Then it was time to eat! I didn’t get to eat much (either did Jim), but people told us the food was good. If you’re getting married, make sure you eat something! You will be starving later!
Jim and I tried to visit as many tables as possible, but it was so hard! We got to a few, and then our photographer wanted to take some more pictures outside. It was fun though because Jim and I had a light saber fight! We did get married on Star Wars Day after all . Oh and we’re huge nerds. So there’s that.
We cut the cake and weren’t boring about it. And then some cake fell down my dress. Which made for an awkward picture. Jim’s grandma actually made the cake and it was absolutely beautiful! I literally couldn’t believe how amazingly talented she is. And it was of course delicious too! After cutting the cake, it was time for our first dance.
We wanted to pick a song that nobody had heard before, and I was so glad that we did. I sang probably half the song to him and the other half we were wondering how long the song was haha! We felt really awkward dancing while everyone was staring at us. We used the song “Changed By You” by Between the Trees. I didn’t even cry! I was so proud. However, we had the mother/son and father/daughter dance right after. My dad picked the song “My Wish” by Rascal Flatts and I bawled through the whole thing
We also had a photobooth during the reception and everyone seemed to love it! Jim and I finally got our pictures taken right before they were packing up. I also got in with a bunch of our college friends. I loved getting the CD back from the photobooth! Everyone took some awesome pictures!. My dad is a huge joker and isn’t ever really that serious but he kept telling me to listen to the lyrics. It was nice to dance with my dad because he’s not really a huge dancer!
Finally, we had some time to dance. I was thankful we were able to dance to “Gangnam Style” and some of the last slow songs before the night ended. I was so sad that the day went so fast! And I was starving. Jim drove us back to the hotel afterwards and I immediately changed and went to Buffalo Wild Wings with my boss, his date, and one of the groomsmen (Chris). What, you don’t go to B Dubs after getting married?
I seriously cannot believe how fast the day went and how perfect it was. Sure there were little mishaps during the day, but nobody likes a boring wedding! I was so thankful and blessed that so many of our friends and family were there to celebrate with us. I’m so sad it’s over, but so happy to be married to the man of my dreams!
